Aloha Everyone:

I wanted to do a quick update today, as it has been a week since we have given a shout out to everyone, for those of you that are new to the community welcome to the Blubrry Announcement list where we update you, on what is happening in the Blubrry Community. I want to remind everyone that they can find all of the previous announcements at faq.blubrry.com, as well as the Google mail list archive. For those of you that have subscribed to the blubrry discussion list it’s nice to see everyone give great suggestions and keeping the volume low.

Crazy week so far here, on Monday we were informed by our server provider that they detected an error on the system, that required a re-provision of the box with a hard drive replacement. We had planned in advance for this type of issue and we have a separate server that is running an exact mirror of all of our domains. So late Monday afternoon we switched automatically to the mirror and were up and running. The mirror has about 1/3 the horsepower under the hood so we suspended some process while on the mirror. That lasted about 24 hours we are back on the primary box and cleaning up some stuff today.

Yesterday we sent out our second advertising proposal to a 101 shows, those that have received them need to reply by tomorrow evening. Only shows that had advertising surveys filled out via your podcast profile and those whose content matched the sponsors request were sent proposals. The campaign will be starting on Sept 15^th with it lasting 90 days with an option for the advertiser to extend to 180 days if the campaign is doing well.

I have received a couple of questions that I want to clarify here on how you are paid. When we say for example you will be getting $25.00 CPM that means you will be paid $25.00 for every 1000 verified downloads in the podcast that the ad was run in. So if you do 4 shows a month and each show gets 5000 downloads equaling 20 thousand a month for all 4 shows you would be paid $25.00 x 20 = $500.00 We only count downloads that fall between the program period. Thus if the ad deal starts on Sept 15^th and the Ad deal runs till Nov 15^th we will pay you for those downloads during that period. Shows that were produced within 1-7 days of the end of the advertising run will be able to submit log files through 1-7 days after the 15th. Historically downloads decrease on podcast after 96 hours but we will give you a full 7 day window

Update on the Wicked Campaign those of you that have signed up for this be advised it is still in final negotiations, the Wicked folks are still on track so it will be pretty awesome having two campaigns going where we will be putting thousands of dollars into podcasters pockets.

Development of Blubrry continues we had a bit of a slow week last week as one of our developers is packing up to move from Maine to the city of Brotherly Love, but we will be introducing some fantastic features to the commenting section along with a host of other updates that are currently beta testing. Want to help us on the beta site we could use a few people to help from time to time.

Promotion: Well we are getting the details together but the essence of the promotion is that when we hit 1000 registered podcast on Blubrry we will be giving away some cool products as prizes. But there will be a small catch only shows with completed profiles and those shows haven taken the time to upload there branding graphics etc will be eligible. Podcast Education: We are looking for about 10 people to help us build a comprehensive audio series no more the 5-10 minutes each that will help listeners and new podcasters get started if you want to do a topic let us know what you are a expert in.
