How to implement the Statistics Redirect in Wordpress with Podpress.

Implementing the RawVoice (Blubrry and TechPodcasts) Statistics Redirect is easy to do in Wordpress.

Requirements

Note: Podpress versions prior to 8.8 include bugs which can adversely affect your Podpress settings including the Statistics Redirect.

Option 1: Add Redirect to each Post

The following option is for podcasters who associate a URL (e.g. http://media.libsyn.com/test/file.mp3) when linking media to blog posts in Wordpress. For users who select a file from the Location: drop down, please proceed to Option 2.

When editing your podcast's post, browse to the "Location" field. Within the field, replace the existing http:// with the Statistics Redirect URL issued for your podcast. For example, if your "Location" value was http://www.media.libsyn.com/test/file.mp3, and your Statistics Redirect URL is http://media.blubrry.com/<keyword>/, then the new value in the "Location" field should be http://media.blubrry.com/<keyword>/www.media.libsyn.com/test/file.mp3.

Note: you should see no additional http:// in the middle of the value. Including additional http:// within the URL will cause Microsoft applications such as the Zune Marketplace to fail to download your media.

Option 2: Configure Using the "URI of media files directory" Field

This option is only available for those who upload their media to the same server where your Wordpress blog resides. Please refer to Option 1 above if you specify a URL when posting your podcasts.

First, sign into your wordpress blog and go to the Podpress General Settings page. Under the "Media File Locations" section , replace the http:// portion of the existing URL in the "URI of media files directory" field with the Redirect URL you were issued.

If your Statistics Redirect URL for TechPodcasts.com is http://media.techpodcasts.com/<keyword>/ and the current value in the "URI of media files directory" field is http://www.website.com/audio, then the new value should be http://media.techpodcasts.com/<keyword>/www.website.com/audio.

If your Statistics Redirect URL for Blubrry.com is http://media.blubrry.com/<keyword>/ and the current value in the "URI of media files directory" field is http://www.website.com/audio, then the new value should be http://media.blubrry.com/<keyword>/www.website.com/audio.

Note: you should see no additional http:// in the middle of the value. Including additional http:// within the URI will cause Microsoft applications such as the Zune Marketplace to fail to download your media.

Please note, each community has its own unique media redirect URL. It is very important that you use the exact media redirect URL that you have been issued.

Option 3: For Blubrry Users Only

Podpress version 8.8 and newer includes an option to enable Blubrry Statistics simply by entering your Blubrry Keyword. If your issued Redirect starts with http://media.blubrry.com/<keyword>/, you can simply enter the <keyword> portion into this fiield in Podpress. Note the keyword should not contain any slashes.
